The overall appearance of dyslexic handwriting is very clumsy and disorganized. While illegible handwriting is a problem with a lot of people, in case of dyslexic handwriting, the issue goes beyond illegibility. The letter sizes change too frequently and so do the slants. A lot of words would be formed inverted or upside down and there will be frequent use of capital letters and sometimes even numbers when not needed. The pressure and spacing maybe varying excessively, with poor or no use of full stops or commas, and it could appear like the letters were ‘floating or dancing’.

However, it is important to understand that not all children with these traits in their handwriting may have to be dyslexic It could simply be a case of immaturity or be caused because they still do not know hoe to hold their pencils well or have not practiced writing enough.
A good idea is to watch out for other signs and symptoms of dyslexia along with the dyslexia writing, in order to ensure that it really is a cause for concern and not just a simple problem that the child need to learn how to deal with.
