What are the different dyslexia types?
There are a number of dyslexia types depending on the kind of functions they tend to affect the most in an individual. These are:
1. Visual dyslexia- This is the form of dyslexia that makes it difficult for an individual to understand and react to the visual signals properly. They may not understand them the right way and show problems in learning things taught through visual aids.
2. Auditory or Phonological Dyslexia- This type of dyslexia affects the auditory process of the individual.
3. Dyscalculia- This dyslexia type affects the mathematical abilities of a person. It makes making solving calculations, learning multiplication tables, understanding symbols and other mathematical instructions tough for them.
4. Dysprtaxia- This makes a person clumsier and they appear disoriented and confused, because of their unnatural coordination process. They cannot coordinate their activities and movements appropriately.
5. Dysgraphia- Here the child has difficulty when he or she tries to hold pens or pencils the right way. It has a deep impact on their education and handwriting.
Apart from the above, dyslexia can also be broadly classified according to the cause of the disability. These are
1. Trauma dyslexia- Caused due to physical injury of the brain.
2. Primary dyslexia- Caused by genetic disorders.
3. Secondary or development dyslexia- A result of bad nutrition and care during fetal development and early childhood years.
It is important to note that the symptoms and remedies of dyslexia vary greatly according to the dyslexia types mentioned above.
