Dyslexia & Rote Memory of Non-meaningful Fact

By non-meaningful facts are referred to those that are not interesting or relevant to the person. It proves to be extremely troublesome for the majority of dyslexic children as well as adults while in school; this creates learning problems.

1.  Multiplication tables.

2.  Days of week, number of months and years in proper order.

3.  Scientific facts – the boiling point of water is 212 degrees Fahrenheit, the light speed is 186,000 miles per second etc.

4.  Historical facts – names, dates and places. The dyslexics perform well in history sessions that lay emphasis on causes of events and the results of it rather than memorizing by rote the names of person, places as well as dates.
