First of all, it is important to understand that the root cause of learning disability in dyslexics is not related to lack of intelligent in an individual. It is in fact more closely related to the problem of confused perception, which makes retaining things difficult for them.

A dyslexic child will frequently confuse sounds and visuals. Sequencing and directions are also a problem for these kids, so that in spite of teaching things over and over again, they may still end up confused. This could lead to a problem in understanding even the basics of writing and reading like differentiating between the letters ‘b’ and ‘d’ which do not have much differences.

Normal children on the other hand will have less complex problems associated with learning difficulties. They may not be able to memorize things simply because they were not paying enough attention when being taught or are not interested in the subject at all.

Differentiating between the two forms of learning problems is extremely important for early diagnosis of the condition. Dyslexia learning difficulties are not always very easy to catch, but awareness can surely help.
